Wrestler and actor Thommas Lister Jr was found dead in his apartment after experiencing symptoms of coronavirus, his manager said.
The 62-year-old ‘Friday’ star was pronounced dead on the scene after emergency services responded to a report of an unconscious man.
Police officers said to TMZ that it is initially believed he passed away from natural causes but an autopsy is underway.
Lister’s manager, Cindy Cowan, said the actor began feeling sick a week ago and his symptoms “got really bad, really quick.”
She also told Variety that he had missed shooting on a movie project because of the illness.
Lister was best known for his role in Friday and Next Friday. He also appeared in movies such as Jackie Brown, The Dark Knight, Austin Powers in Goldmember, and The Fifth Element.
His co-star Ice Cube paid tribute to the late entertainer on Instagram, writing: “America’s favorite bully was a born entertainer who would pop into character at the drop of a hat terrifying people on and off camera. Followed by a big smile and laugh. Thank you for being a good dude at heart. I miss you already.”
WWE wrote on Twitter: “WWE is saddened to learn that Tom “Tiny” Lister, known as Zeus to the WWE Universe, passed away today at age 62.”
Lister fought against Hogan in the WWE’s 1989 SummerSlam event, forming a tag team with Macho Man Randy Savage against Hogan and Brutus Beefcake.
Josiah Johnson wrote on Twitter: “We all knew Tiny Lister as Deebo, but he was one of the coolest dudes on the planet, always showed love to everyone in LA.
“RIP Legend.”
