It’s been plenty of years since then-24-year-old Tom Cruise played the role of Lt.
Pete “Maverick” Mitchell in the popular movie Top Gun which came to theaters in 1986.
Now, 33 years later, Tom Cruise appeared as he hadn’t aged much when he appeared in the trailer of the movie’s sequel.
In the sequel called Top Gun: Maverick, Tom Cruise (Lt. Pete “Maverick” Mitchell) will be responsible for mentoring a new generation of U.S. Navy fighter pilots.
As the trailer proves, the 57-year-old film star looked fresh and at ease as he walked with pride in the character’s iconic jacket and sunglasses.
The original Top Gun was a jumping board that put Cruise on the radar along with his co-stars Meg Ryan, Anthony Edwards, Val Kilmer, and Kelly McGillis.
While the new installment was supposed to air several years ago, its original intended director, Tony Scott, committed suicide in 2012 and delayed the sequel’s progress. Top Gun: Maverick is now set to come out on June 26, 2020.
In the film, Maverick will be riding the limited-edition Kawasaki Ninja H2 Carbon superbike that he has chosen for the movie.
The 1000cc four-cylinder supercharged motorbike can reach a top speed of 209 miles per hour. It cost $30,000 and only 120 of them were produced.
While the success of the sequel is unclear, Top Gun was the highest-earning film of 1986, grossing over $356 million.
The movie was the actor’s eighth feature film that set him on an abundant career path. Since then, Tom appeared in several hits including Mission Impossible franchise, Rain Man, War Of The Worlds, A Few Good Men, and so on.
