It is said that a dog is a man’s best friend.
And this Carolina dog proved it right. The beautiful dog refused to leave his owner’s casket without greeting him with the last goodbye.
Yes you read it right. The dog stayed by the coffin which contained the dead body of his owner propping his paw on that casket as an act of saying goodbye.
The 76 years old Caralonia resident, William D. Schiller, who is better known by his nick name, ‘Bill’ passed away on the 8th of April. His dog bid him a goodbye on the 11th of April when his dead body was brought to his private resident.
His dog silently stayed beside the coffin and after sometime, went on its tippy toes and peeped into the casket to see his owner for the last time. This sweet gesture has melted the hearts of all the people of the community.
Bill’s girlfriend, Anne Marie Sibthrop can be seen in the frame along with the dog.
As per the people who were present there, the dog got on his back toes, stretched its neck as much as it could stretch it to lick the ears of his owner for the one last time.
The dog was rescued by Anne Marie and was later adopted by Bill who himself was in military and had a full time job in a school.
Bill and Anne had a long distance love relationship for a long time but in 2017, it was diagnosed that Bill has dementia and that is when the couple decided to move in their house in North Carolina.
Bill is now survived by his sons, Michael, John and Mark and has six granddaughter and six great grandchildren.
