There are many holiday destinations where you have to take lots of cash with you as you know the place is expensive.
And Rome is one of those places.
Some tourist visited a restaurant where they were charged £70(around $90) for two burgers and three coffees.
The angry tourists criticized the restaurant and shared the picture of their receipt on review site TripAdvisor. Look at the receipt of their meal at the cafe.
FacebookThe price of the burger was €25($31) which means €50($62) for two burgers and €8($10) for a cappuccino which they had three.
Emma Cheppy warned the people and other tourists sharing the photo of the prices at the restaurant.
She wrote on Facebook: “VISITORS OF ROME BEWARE: Caffe Vaticano has been ripping off tourists for ages apparently.
Just skip it and find another place to eat near the Vatican. There’s tons!”
One reviewer wrote: “The food was average and the prices are double if not triple what you pay elsewhere in Rome.
“The menu without prices should have been a warning sign.”
‘’Terrible customer service and rude people. No price on the menu, they decide what they want to charge looking to the person,’’ said another.
Other people described their experience as ‘daylight robbery.’
After getting a bad rating of 1.5 stars on the site, Tripadvisor temporarily disabled the comments on Caffe Vaticano’s page after the receipt went viral on social media.
Some people were leaving negative comments despite never having visited and it was against the website rules.
A message posted by Trip Advisor read: “Due to a recent event that has attracted media attention and has caused an influx of review submissions that do not describe a first-hand experience, we have temporarily suspended publishing new reviews for this listing. If you’ve had a firsthand experience at this property, please check back soon – we’re looking forward to receiving your review!”
