Trader Joe’s is known for an ever-rotating store catalog, and many of the chain’s new or seasonal products quickly become fan favorites.
On April 8, the chain unveiled seven more products set to hit the shelves in spring and early summer. The announcement came as part of the newest episode of the podcast “Inside Trader Joe’s.”
According to The Daily Meal, The products include two new desserts, a protein pancake mix, new and zesty flavors of chips and salsa, and two new drinks. We combed through the conversation and banter in the 22-minute episode to find the details you need to know about the new offerings.
Here’s what we learned about the new line of products from the podcast.
1 Neapolitan Joe Joe’s Ice Cream
Coming out in late spring/early summer, Neapolitan Joe Joe’s Ice Cream is a delicious mix of vanilla and strawberry ice cream with chocolate fudge pieces and dark chocolate swirl. It also has pieces of fan-favorite Neapolitan Joe-Joe’s Cookies.
2 Mochi Cake Mix
The popular ice cream treat now comes in a DIY cake mix. It’s made from the same rice ingredient as Mochi, resulting in a lighter color batter and a deliciously rich, buttery vanilla flavor. It’s also gluten-free.
3 Protein Pancake Mix
Basically, it’s pancake mix with 10 grams of protein per serving. It also just tastes like regular pancake mix. Tara Miller, marketing director for Trader Joe’s, said this mix has been a hit with her whole family, and we can’t wait to try it with ours.
4 Turmeric, Ginger, Coconut Beverage
Turmeric has become quite popular recently, so Trader Joe’s made a refreshing beverage out of it. Turmeric is touted for its health benefits, and coconut water is a hydrating alternative to regular H2O. According to Matt Sloan, the vice president of marketing product at Trader Joe’s, this bottled beverage basically tastes like non-dairy golden milk.
5 Bloody Mary Salsa
This tomato-based salsa builds on traditional salsa by adding celery and a kick of spice. There’s no vodka in it, but pair it with a real bloody at your next barbecue to get a buzz.
6 Patio Potato Chips
Sometimes you can’t decide which flavor of potato chips you want to buy. With this new product, Trader Joe’s gives you dill, homestyle ketchup, sea salt and vinegar, and barbecue chips all in one bag.
7 Organic Ethiopian Peaberry Hambayleigh Estate Small Lot Coffee
A new product to Trader Joe’s and the United States, this coffee has never been sold outside of Ethiopia. It is made out of peaberries, an anomaly within the coffee bean world, making it extra special and extra delicious.
Most, if not all, are seasonal so stock up as soon as you see them in stores.
