Celebrities have been rallying on social media to pay a tribute to late Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek following his passing on Sunday.
The popular TV presenter, who was best known for hosting Jeopardy! for 37 seasons since 1984, died on Sunday following his diagnosis with stage 4 pancreatic cancer back in 2019.
According to TMZ, the 80-year-old TV host passed away in the presence of his friends and family.
Following the legendary television personality’s death, a series of renowned celebrities led tributes to the late TV host.
“Part of our lives for decades, he taught us about so many things and now Alex Trebek has gone from us. Sending love to his family and friends. We will miss you, sir. Godspeed,” Nancy Sinatra wrote.
“Alex Trebek was kind enough to film a cameo for our film Free Guy last year despite his battle,” Ryan Reynolds expressed in his Twitter post.
“He was gracious and funny. In addition to being curious, stalwart, generous, reassuring and of course, Canadian. We love you, Alex. And always will.”
Jimmy Kimmel penned: “Couldn’t we have one nice weekend? A kind gentleman whose excellence was so consistent, it was easy to take for granted. Rest well, Mr. Trebek.”
Among hundreds of other tributes was also that of John Legend who admitted being “obsessed with Jeopardy as a nerdy kid growing up in Ohio.”
“I’ve loved and revered Alex Trebek since I can remember. What an iconic career. RIP Alex Trebek,” the singer wrote.
“The answer is….. THANK YOU! Alex Trebek. You were grace and guts and humor and deep love,” Jamie Lee Curtis added.
Dubbing Trebek the “greatest host of one of the greatest shows of all time” was Armie Hammer who thanked the late TV host for “being there at the end of the day to take my mind off things.”
Mr. Trebek, rest in peace.
