People react in different ways when they encounter something that they don’t know.
Depending on the situation and what’s at stake, some people can become defensive and refuse to accept anything new. Others, however, can be genuinely curious about what they experienced or encountered and try to learn more so that they can be better informed as they move forward.
Of course, some encounters are just so baffling that they can just leave you scratching your head because it doesn’t fit into any of your established thought patterns. An example would be a stranger just handing you a few dollars just because they’re feeling generous and want to express it to the first person on the street that they meet.

As it turns out, even animals can become quite baffled and it’s a hilarious thing when it happens because we always compare it to our human paradigm. This recent baffling encountered happened to a trio of chimpanzees when they encountered a tortoise for the first time in their lives.
Being an ape, a chimpanzee is quite close, genetically speaking, to the human species. This means that they can be quite smart, as animals go, and can exhibit behavior that approaches that of human behavior but can be quite funny to watch.
Morane David, 36, z zookeeper based in Guinea, managed to take a video of the hilarious encounter. The three chimps knock, push, and peer into the shell in an effort to find out what’s inside. One of the chimps can be seen practically trying to push his face as far into the shell as he can go but the tortoise just refuses to give up its secrets.
The adorable moment happened in August 2019 as the chimps were taken on a bush walk so that they can explore more of their environment.
Morane said: “The nurse group’s bush excursions allow them to discover their environment, learning important information that will be indispensable to life in the bush.
“While on their daily bush walk with their group, Missy and Ali met a terrestrial turtle and were quite scared of it, especially Ali.
“Missy, on the other hand, was very intrigued, but still not very sure of herself.
“We decided to move the group along to leave the poor tortoise in peace.”
Morane is currently in Guinea as a volunteer with the Chimpanzee Conservation Center.
Morane said: “The Chimpanzee Conservation Center is a sanctuary that rescues and rehabilitates orphan chimpanzees that have been a victim to the illegal bushmeat trade and illegal trade of babies.
“The chimpanzees in this video are all orphans and are currently being rehabilitated at the Chimpanzee Conservation Center.”
