We’ve seen many heartwarming stories of people paying tribute or gratitude for the hardworking soldiers, such as the one about
a biker saluting a soldier on memorial day, or about a pilot going the extra mile to honor a fallen soldier.
Reading about these kinds of stories, however, just never seems to get old. Such stories remind me that there still are good people out there, and restore faith in humanity.
Something similar happened when about 30 national troops walked into the restaurant called the Corner Bar in Rockford for lunch.
Little did they know that they would soon come across an angelic man.

When the soldiers all sat down to eat, an anonymous customer asked to see the manager. Normally, asking to see the manager at a restaurant or a cafe means that the customer is not satisfied with the service.
However, this customer wasn’t asking for the manager to complain. In fact, what he had in mind was something very different.
After seeing dozens of soldiers walking into the restaurant, he was determined to show a small token of appreciation to these soldiers. So, he secretly asked to pay for their entire meal.
The total amount of bill was about $200, and the man also left a 25% tip. But the surprise didn’t end there. Apparently, the restaurant’s general manager discounted the bill 20% because he was so touched by this anonymous man.
John Vanaman, the manager of the Corner Bar, said that “the person who took care of the bill was clear that he didn’t want any attention.”

Every part of this story is so touching – our soldiers working day and night to protect our country, manager of the restaurant offering discount, and this customer who knows how to thank the soldiers when there’s a chance!
