It’s Donald Trump’s 75th birthday!
Now that he’s no longer in office, the former president can now get back to celebrating how he knows best – with bizarre-themed parties.
Over the years, Trump’s birthday has brought some grand, and often out-of-this-world bashes, showing off his millions in a typically understated way.
Back in the day, Trump’s birthday bash has attracted some of the biggest celebrity names at that time, from Pamela Anderson to Liza Minnelli and others.
While the guest lists were often exclusive, details about Trump’s birthday parties were frequently featured in tabloids the day after.
Luckily, with photos and invitations from the birthday bashes in the past eventually making their way onto social media, we can now go back in time and see how Trump celebrated his special day over the years.
The Giant Spaceship in 1988
A space-themed party might sound ideal for a seven-year-old, but apparently, it was also the perfect party theme for Trump’s 42nd birthday.
According to The Washington Post, the party was held at Trump’s Atlantic City casino. It featured a giant 15ft spaceship, which hovered above Trump and his wife, Ivana, during a smoke-and-laser show, and a Trump-themed performance of Michael Jackson’s Bad.
The night also featured appearances from big celebrities like Billy Crystal and Liza Minnelli, as well as a special birthday greeting from none other than President Reagan.
The Gatecrasher in 1990
It’s obvious that Trump loves the media spotlight, but for his 44th birthday party, he got more than he bargained for.
Local reports said that a reporter from the Village Voice was arrested and dragged out in handcuffs after attempting to break into the event.
According to another journalist who managed to sneak into the party, the celebration featured messages from Dolly Parton and Elton John – both of whom went on to become critics of the president – and a replica of ‘Trump Shuttle,’ which went bust two years later.
The ‘Renaissance Man’ in 1993
A few years ago, an invitation from Trump’s 47th birthday party emerged on Reddit.
The invitation photo looks like a warning sign that Trump had ambitions beyond being the head of a company.
The photo, which promises ‘a birthday celebration of the ages starring ‘renaissance man’ Donald J. Trump’ shows the businessman sitting on a throne, complete with a sword and fur robes, with his wife Marla kneeling at his feet.
Tarzan Trump in 1994
One year later, Trump went for an even more bizarre theme, sending out invites for ‘a birthday adventure of the wildest kind.’
The Tarzan-themed invitation showed Trump dressed in animal skin, with his wife Marla (once again) kneeling below him in a leopard print bathing suit.
The invitations were sent out with the tagline ‘Trump – Lord of the Financial Jungle.’
Super-Trump in 1996
According to The New York Times, Marla said that she hoped for a low-key fair to mark Trump’s 50th birthday.
However, he demanded a ‘big blowout’ instead.
Trump’s 50th birthday happened in Trump Tower in Manhattan. It featured more than 400 of his ‘closest’ friends, with the ballroom covered in giant photographs of Trump as a child, as well as an ice sculpture of Marla Trump as a mermaid.
The main attraction of the lavish night was the cake. A giant, full-length edible version of Trump dressed as Superman, with a dollar sign on his chest instead of the S.
Don and Pam in 2005
In the year 2005, Trump was into hosting The Apprentice, and his Casino and Resorts company had filed for bankruptcy.
There are not too many details about his 59th birthday party. But in 2018, Pamela Anderson told The Hollywood Reporter she was paid $500 to attend the party together with some Playboy models.
“He was with a wife — I don’t know which one — but he was nothing special,” Pamela said.
Birthday Trip in 2018
Trump’s birthday bashed were more toned-down during his term as the president of the United States.
His 72nd birthday celebrations happened in Singapore for his history-making summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
As of this writing, it’s not clear whether Kim Jong-un sent his own birthday wishes to Trump, but the Singaporean Foreign Minister did present Trump with a cake.
