President Trump has doubled down on his allegations of election fraud as he insisted there were “more votes than people who voted” in his tweet.
In a late-night rant on Twitter, the POTUS vowed to win the election as he brought up serious accusations by suggesting that poll watchers were not allowed to do their job and that “fake ballots” were used.
“In certain swing states, there were more votes than people who voted, and in big numbers. Does that not really matter?” Trump wrote in his tweet which got flagged by the platform.
“Stopping Poll Watchers, voting for unsuspecting people, fake ballots and so much more. Such egregious conduct. We will win!”
Following ungrounded accusations, Trump’s tweet was flagged and linked to a VOANews article that claims officials and experts have confirmed there is no evidence of voter fraud in this year’s elections.
The president’s tweet comes after Trump suffered a major blow in the swing state of Georgia where top officials certified the election results, confirming that Biden won the state where 4,998,482 ballots were reportedly cast by just 12,670 votes.
“I believe that the numbers that we have presented today are correct. The numbers reflect the will of the people,” Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said.
While Raffensperger, who is a Republican, shared his disappointment over the results, he insisted that the process was fair and “that numbers don’t lie.”
“Like other Republicans, I’m disappointed our candidate didn’t win Georgia’s electoral vote. Close elections sow distrust. People feel their side was cheated,” he added.
Due to the tiny 0.25% margin, however, Trump’s campaign was able to request another recount. While workers spent the majority of last week hand-counting the votes, this recount will be conducted by retabulating ballots via a scanner.
