Trump Claims He Did Better Than Obamacare After Signing New Executive Order

President Donald Trump has spoken out and bragged about doing better than Obamacare after signing an executive order that requires hospitals to disclose prices to the patients prior to the treatment.

Speaking of the new executive order, Trump said patients will now be able to know exactly what they are getting and how much it will cost them prior to being treated.

“It really is in a true sense the opposite of Obamacare. You get much better pricing, the doctor you want and maybe you’ll get better than the doctor you originally thought about. It’s pretty incredible,” the U. S. president said.

“This is a truly big action. People have no idea how big it is. Some people say bigger than health care itself.”

Trump has been searching for options to counter the Democrats when it comes to the issue of health care which he believes will be the issue of primary focus in the upcoming 2020 elections.

“We’re going to have a plan. That’s subject to winning the House, Senate and presidency, which hopefully we’ll win all three. We’ll have phenomenal health care,” the president said in a recent interview with ABC News.

Presenting his “phenomenal health care” plan in the Old Executive Office Building one day after the interview aired, Trump added:

“We are fundamentally changing the nature of the health care market place. This is bigger than anything we’ve done in this particular realm.”

While the executive order might appear promising, critics have argued that most people will still be forced to accept services at the same prices as now, especially in cases of emergency, regardless of the disclosed data the hospitals will provide ahead of the treatment.

In addition, insurance companies and hospitals warned that disclosing secret financial negotiations will cause havoc in the area of competition between insurers and health care institutions and potentially result in driving the prices up.

Defending the executive order, Trump added that the action taken would benefit the middle class and “empower patients.”

“There will be some rich people who won’t be too happy about this but the people will be happy about it,” he said.

“We will empower patients with what they need to search for the lowest costs and the highest quality care. No Americans should be blindsided by bills they never agreed to.”
