Trump’s former hotel staff opened up about the strict protocol they had to follow while serving the former president.
According to the Washingtonian, former employees of Washington D.C.’s Trump International Hotel spoke out to the publication to share details about serving the 45th president and his closest allies inside the prestigious hotel.
As the sources alleged, it was a well-known fact that Trump always dined at Table 72, whereas no one but his family and closest allies, including Rudy Giuliani and Mike Pence, were allowed to sit at the table located in the middle of the mezzanine.
Before serving the former president, the staff were reportedly informed about a ‘Standard Operating Procedure’ which detailed the step-by-step actions on how to tend to Trump and his associates.
According to the Washingtonian, the servers first had to “discreetly present” Trump with hand sanitizer before asking him the following question: “Good [time of day] Mr. President. Would you like your Diet Coke with or without ice?”
After receiving an answer, the servers had to pour coke in accordance with the detailed, 7-step instructions they had been given. According to the document, servers were also presented with four photos showing how to properly pour the drink for Trump.
Furthermore, coke bottles had to be opened in front of the former president, whereas the servers were instructed where to hold the bottles and told to repeat the process until Trump’s departure.
According to the document, the 45th president always ate the same thing at his hotel near the White House. His meal typically involved a shrimp cocktail, a steak with fries, and an occasional dessert such as chocolate cake or apple pie.
While tending to the former president, serves had to observe proper ketchup etiquette, whereas the staff was required to open Heinz ketchup bottles in front of Trump while making sure he could hear the seal pop as they twisted the cap.
Besides the former president’s usual meal, servers were also required to serve a tray of junk foods, including Lay’s chips, gummy bears, Tic Tacs, Snickers, and Tootsie Rolls, during Trump’s visits.
While the former president reportedly chose not to send his food back, he once voiced his displeasure after the person he was dining with received a bigger steak than the one he was served.
