S. President Donald Trump has urged people to buy his plastic straws because ‘liberal paper straws don’t work.’

Trump joined the critics who slammed the idea of banning plastic straws amid his campaign as a part of which he is selling plastic straws for $15 per pack on his website.

“What about the plates and the wrappers and everything else that are much bigger?” the president protested when asked about the issue of plastic pollution according to the Daily Mail.

“You know, it’s interesting about plastic straws: So you have a little straw, but what about the plates, the wrappers and everything else that are much bigger, and they’re made of the same material?

“So the straws are interesting. Everybody focuses on the straws. There’s a lot of things to focus – but it’s an interesting question,” he added before leaving the White House to pay a visit to his golf course in New Jersey.

As per the description, each pack includes 10 BPA-free, reusable and recyclable, 9” long laser-engraved plastic straws made in the USA.

The controversial pitch took a direct shot at the increasing nation-wide efforts to replace plastic straws with an eco-friendly alternative – paper straws.

Striking back at Trump’s campaign was also Greenpeace, an environmental organization which claimed that “the vast majority of plastic straws are not recycled in the U.S., which means they end up incinerated, piling up in landfills, or polluting our oceans.”
