President Donald Trump gathered his political allies at the East Room to celebrate his acquittal over the impeachment charges by the Senate.
It is there when he held up a copy of the Washington Post, with the words, “Trump Acquitted” in large font, said that it was the only good headline he ever had, and even consider framing it.
He then gave an over an hour speech to thank his family and friends, and proceeded on name-dropping the people he blamed to be behind his impeachment case.
Trump called them as evil, corrupt, and dirty cops, leakers and liars.
The first name on his list is former FBI Director James Comey, whom he called a disaster and a sleazebag, and claimed that firing Comey is the start of all the impeachment drama that ended recently.
He also had choice words for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, House Intelligence Committee Chair Adam Schiff, Sen. Mitt Romney, Hunter Biden former FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe – and the FBI lovers, Peter Strzok and Lisa Page.
It was Comey’s firing on May 2017 that led to the appointment of Special Counsel Robert Mueller, who then took over the Russian interference probe.
The said investigation did not directly result in Trump’s impeachment case, but to a scheme to hold up about $400 million worth of military aid to Ukraine and to pressure the president to begin investigations into Joe and Hunter Biden.
The celebration was full of the President’s Congressional and political allies, such as lawmakers Doug Collins, Elise Stefanik and Matt Gaetz who openly defended the president during the House Impeachment.
Also in attendance were GOP senators including Chuck Grassley, Mike Lee and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell
President’s impeachment legal team was in attendance as well, and each of them were greeted with cheers and a standing ovation.
“This is a ay of celebration because we went through hell,” Trump said in the event.
