Former President Donald Trump’s new social media platform called TRUTH Social was hacked only hours after it was announced.
The hack happened within hours after Trump’s announcement that the social media network would be launched in early 2022.
According to reports, many tech reporters created fake profiles for Trump and former Vice President Mike Pence.
The Daily Dot’s Mikael Thalen, who created a fake Trump profile, said that the public URL of the site was taken offline.
Tech reporter Drew Harwell of the Washington Post also found the site and created a fake Pence account, which was banned within one hour.
According to Harwell, pranksters made a fake Donald Trump account and used it to share a meme of ‘pig poop balls.’
The Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) said it will create a social network to ‘fight back against the ‘Big Tech’ companies of Silicon Valley, which have used their unilateral power to silence opposing voices in America.’
“I created TRUTH Social and TMTG to stand up to the tyranny of Big Tech. We live in a world where the Taliban has a huge presence on Twitter, yet your favorite American President has been silenced,” Trump said.
“This is unacceptable. I am excited to send out my first TRUTH on TRUTH Social very soon. TMTG was founded with a mission to give a voice to all,” he continued.
“I’m excited to soon begin sharing my thoughts on TRUTH Social and to fight back against Big Tech. Everyone asks me why doesn’t someone stand up to Big Tech? Well, we will be soon!”
