A woman started acting strange when she was at the University of Scranton in 2009.
She would feel something bad was about to happen to her family. Everyone thought she was crazy.
Her parents were worried and didn’t know what to do.
One afternoon, Emily disappeared. She didn’t contact her family for 24 hours.
That’s when Emily’s grandparents in New Jersey called and told them that Emily had visited them.
She told her grandfather that a truck was following her but when her grandfather looked out the window, he didn’t see any truck.
Finally, her family decided to get her some treatment.
The doctors gave her medication that didn’t work.
The family tried everything. They went to psychiatrists and mental facilities. But, nothing happened. Her condition was getting worse.
One day, Emily’s parents came to know about an episode of the Today Show about Susannah Cahalan, a New York Post reporter who spent a month thinking she was crazy.
Cahalan suffered from anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis – a disease that causes neurological damage.
The doctors tested Emily for the disease. And, the results were positive.
Now, Emily is being treated after suffering for over a year.
In 2012, Emily and Cahalan appeared together on the Today Show. Emily told Cahalan how she saved her life.
