This is a heartwarming moment two dog pals had a sweet reunion in the street after not seeing each other for over a month!
The video, shared by pet owner Stefani Maryn from Hamilton, Ontario, shows the dogs’ excited reaction when they spotted each other while strolling around the neighborhood.
The clip shows rescue pup Samantha walking with her owner Stefani when she sees her best friend Baldur with his owner Liesl.
Samantha starts to bark excitedly as soon as she notices her pal, pulling Stefani with all of her might towards the cute brindle mutt.
When the two pups finally meet, they continue to bark and rub noses while their happy human pals hold on to their leashes.
The adorable video was shared on TikTok where it gained more than 3.6 million views and over 843,000 likes.
In an interview with DailyMail, Stefani said that the reunion came as a complete surprise to both her and the other dog’s owner, who have been shocked by people’s positive response to the clip.
“Three years ago when Samantha and I moved to Hamilton, Baldur was her first friend, who quickly became her soulmate,” Stefani shared. “Baldur, a rescue from the SPCA in Hamilton quickly fell for Samantha as well. Samantha’s favorite pastime is leaning in and licking Baldur’s face during their walks together.”
It was only over a year ago that the two adorable dogs’ friendship was cemented, when Baldur had a terrifying situation and Samantha helped him out.
“We knew they were very best friends after an incident last year when there were fireworks being set off in the neighborhood and Baldur ran under the back deck and was too frightened to come back out,’ Stefani recalled,” Stefani shared.
“After much bribery and patience, I received an urgent call from Liesl around midnight, asking if Samantha could come over to help.
“Samantha and I went over and she ran right into the backyard and offered him her usual barks of affection, as she does, and he came bounding out, breaking the lattice to get to her.”
Speaking about the video, Stefani said: “The overwhelming reception of this video has been beautiful. While neither of us expected such a large response, we are thrilled that their reunion and friendship has brought joy and been relatable during this difficult time.”
