Former boxing champion Mike Tyson has opened up about his pet tigers and admitted it is possible they were indirectly supplied by Joe Exotic.
Appearing in Netflix’s ‘Tiger King,’ Joe Exotic is a former zookeeper and big cats collector who has been jailed after he was found guilty of animal abuse and murder for hire.
As for the Iron Mike, he got his three Bengal tigers back in the 90s after serving his prison sentence. While the boxer recently admitted he regrets getting the big cats as pets, he has now also opened up about their origin and admitted that they may have come from the notorious Joe Exotic himself.
“It could have been, maybe where I got my cats could have got their cats from Joe. But I don’t know. If you are in the exotic animal world you are aware of him,” Tyson said.
Despite the backlash that Joe Exotic has been facing, especially since the Tiger King went viral, the Iron Mike dubbed him a “born leader” with an “ingenious mind.”
“People always say these people are scumbags. But these are amazing people with what they can do with their ingenious minds and control over other people’s minds. These guys are born leaders,” Mike said.
In a recent revelation, the 53-year-old boxer also opened up about his untypical pets and admitted he “was foolish” for “believing they were domesticated.”
“I was foolish. There’s no way you can domesticate these cats 100 percent,” Tyson admitted on Instagram live while talking to rapper Fat Joe about the ‘Tiger King’ documentary.
“I’m just happy I educated myself. I was doing the wrong sh*t. I shouldn’t have had them in my house, believing they were domesticated. I was wrong.”
