Jamie and Skyler met on a blind date.
It was love at first sight for them and in 2004, they got married. Shayden, their oldest son was born five days after the couple celebrated their first wedding anniversary. Their second son, Landon was born five years later.
The couple wanted to conceive another child once Landon becomes old enough. They tried for five years and but failed. They decided to seek the help of a specialist. It was found out that Jamie was suffering from Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome which was blocking the ovulation process.
The doctor advised her to try the IUI treatment. During the first month of the treatment, it failed her to conceive. During the second round, her HCG levels were high indicating that she was pregnant but with more babies.
The couple walked in for the ultrasound appointment overjoyed over the fact that she might be carrying twins. At that time, Shayden was 12, and Landon 7. When they walked out after the ultrasound, they knew that by spring, their family of four would be multiplied to 9!
Yes, Jamie was pregnant with quintuplets! At first, everybody saw four babies during the ultrasound but the doctor spotted the fifth one as well.
She was totally freaked out, she once again underwent the ultrasound just to make sure. Jamie and Skyler were not expecting quintuplets, Jamie was speechless. The couple was happy and freaked out at the same time.
She was worried about the fact that what if she fails to take care of them properly. It was the first time she felt worried but with time, she grew to know that what a joyous moment it is to carry five babies.
She had to eat a lot to support the five unborn. 4000 calories a day is what she had to consume in order to stay active and keep the babies healthy.
They wanted a girl from the beginning and Jamie hoped that out of the five, at least one would be a girl. But to her surprise, she was pregnant with 2 boys and 3 girls.
They are hoping that everything goes smoothly during the gestation period. Jamie, Skyler and their two kids are all excited about welcoming five new members to the family.
