US Olympian Gwen Berry was slammed by Fox Nation’s outspoken host, Tomi Lahren, who blasted the athlete for behaving like a crybaby during an important sporting event recently.
The star US Olympian who specializes in hammer throwing shocked the world when she opted to turn her back on the American flag as the national anthem played in the background. The athlete was hence criticized by a number of influential people including a Republican Congressman who called for her immediate removal from the American Olympic team.
However, the drama and controversy didn’t seem to end and that’s because Fox Nation’s host Tomi Lahren also tore her apart with great criticism, questioning her behavior on a mega sporting event’s trial.
“Not everything in this world revolves around athletes who behave like a crybaby when they’re competing for their country’s team. Is it really too much to ask of them to display a little respect, decency, and class!” she added.
The host appeared furious and mindblown after the Olympian chose the US track and field trials as a stage to protest by turning her back on the country’s flag, protesting the national anthem.
As far as the Olympian’s stance on the controversy is concerned, she did manage to send out a message via her Twitter account recently, calling the move a ‘set up’ as she felt that the country’s national anthem began playing at a deliberate time when she was standing upon the podium.
Moreover, she called it an event that literally caught her off guard.
But the Fox News host was not willing to accept that as an excuse for her behavior being displayed.
“Please, excuse me, but you were not set up! This is how sporting events work and it’s a tradition that trumps your absolute disdain for the sake of the country and American patriotism”- Lahren fired back fiercely!
