Kerville Holness thought that he had brought a $9,000 Florida Villa in the online auction, but he ended up purchasing a strip of grass worth $50 which is running between the two houses.
The officials told him that they could not help him with the refund as it is not possible.
The man thought he had brought the Tamarac villa which is actually worth $177,000 for $9,000, but then he actually ended up purchasing a long strip of grass in Northwest 100th in Spring Lake.
The strip of grass starts where the mailboxes are fixed, which separate two adjoining villas from each other, and then it further extends to the backyard of the houses.
The officials say that they cannot do anything to help the first time bidder in this case, according to the state law.
Holness says that it is sad that they couldn’t show any demarcation online, whereas there are tools to do that. He further said that he could cut through the home wall and garage wall for his space, but it still won’t be of any use to him.
While he was on the site, he could only see pictures of villa on the auction, and that’s why he thought that it’s the villa that’s up for auction.
After this incident, the officials have warned all the auction participants to be aware of bidding on properties.
It’s better to do the comprehensive research before purchasing any property because you don’t want to end up wasting your money on something that will be of no use to you.
Gary Singer, who is the real state attorney, said that he could go to court to find any loopholes or error in the sale procedure of the house. Four other bidders were looking out for the same home.
