The Supreme Court of the US has ordered the Biden administration to reinstate the ‘Remain in Mexico’ policy from the Trump era.
According to local media outlets, the Supreme Court refused to carry out blockage of the court order that required the Biden administration to reinstate this policy, better termed as an immigration move.

Moreover, this means that asylum seekers present at the country’s southern border would now be forced to stay in the Mexican nation as they await their hearings from US courtrooms that would go on to determine their status as well as eligibility.point 211 | 1
Many refer to the policy as a controversial decision, especially at a time when the country is already dealing with the Afghan crisis.
A total of three different liberal judges had opposed the move while the rest were in favor of the decision. The names of the Justices include Justice Kagan, Breyer, and Sotomayor. However, the decision made by the Department of Homeland Security was not in favor of these three.
The Department released a public statement where they announced how their disagreement with that ruling.
“We the Department of Homeland Security disagree respectfully with the entire district court’s decision, and regret that the Supreme Court declined to issue a stay order,” it went on to read.
Donald Trump’s administration had placed this ‘Remain in Mexico’policy in the year 2019. This entailed sending back immigrants to Mexico, instead of releasing them back into the American nation. And that would take place as their asylum hearings were being conducted in the US.
This policy which was put in place with cooperation from Mexico caused a long line of court tents to be placed across the southern border. Common sites included Laredo in Texas, where some migrants could enter the US for a brief period, right before going back to their own homeland, Mexico.
