It may only be a month since the American troop’s withdrawal from war-torn Afghanistan but inside sources from both sides have reportedly confirmed a new meeting since the US pullout.
The high-level talks are all set to take place soon and will occur via a face-to-face ordeal.
The US delegation will meet Taliban officials in Doha this Saturday and Sunday, which many are referring to as a major breakthrough between both sides.
This is the first time ever that the Americans have willingly decided to hold talks with the Taliban, despite the massive and haphazard evacuation mission that took place in Kabul.
Right after American troops withdrew from Afghanistan, the Taliban was quick and fierce regarding their agenda. They not only issued a deadline for all foreign troops to leave but they also went about mentioning how they would not tolerate any foreign intervention in their matters.
The news was confirmed by a senior member of the administration who informed Reuters regarding the event.
Meanwhile, reports are speaking about how the high-profile delegation will also go about including officials hailing from the US intelligence community. They will reportedly press the officials from the Taliban to move ahead with a safe passage regarding the exit of stranded US citizens who are waiting for a miracle.
Similarly, inside reports have also gone about unveiling how the US hopes to have kidnapped US citizen Mark Frerichs back, safe and sound.
On the other hand, another major priority on the high profile agenda will entail the Taliban staying true to its promise of preventing Afghanistan from becoming a home bed for extremists hailing from terrorist organization Al-Qaeda.
Whether or not the Americans will receive cooperation and support regarding this matter is still a huge matter of concern but many are hopeful for a successful meeting that will benefit US-Afghanistan ties.
