A 22-year-old life-long vegan was left furious after she found chicken in her McDonald’s veggie wrap.

Evie Topping visited McDonald’s branch in Exchange Walk, Nottingham city centre on Friday and ordered a veggie wrap that was supposed to consist of a veggie goujon, shredded lettuce, wrapped up in a toasted tortilla.

However, when Evie took the bite, she found pieces of chicken inside the wrap.

Evie and her friend Simone were left furious after finding the pieces of chicken inside the veggie wrap.

Evie, who is a Masters’ student at Nottingham Trent University, shared the video of the wrap online.

Evie said she was fuming because they have ruined more than 20 years of her vegetarianism.

Later, McDonald’s apologized for the incident as they said: “Many apologies for your upset and distress. To help make up for your experience and to say sorry that it didn’t meet your expectations, we would like to send you some vouchers towards a meal which you can use at any of our UK restaurants.”

This irked Evie even more and she refused to accept the vouchers. She has now asked McDonald’s to refund the amount she paid for the veggie wrap.

When the story went viral, people were left shocked and furious and criticized McDonald’s for being so careless and then providing vouchers for their blunder. Vegans supported her wholeheartedly as they said they could understand her feelings.

One user commented: ‘22 years is a long time ,it shows dedication. I can understand her frustration’ while another user added: ‘I would be upset too it’s understandable I’m vegan so I can totally understand’.

The third one wrote: ‘Any place that serves meat, is not a good place tor committed vegan’s to order food!!’
