Vegan protesters have stormed into a restaurant in Australia to tell diners about their problems with people who eat meat.
Members of the ‘Direct Action Everywhere’ carried placards saying ‘Did your food have a face?’ while someone with a megaphone discussed the process of turning animals into food.
“It’s not food, it’s violence. Humane slaughter is a lie,” the person with the megaphone said.
Another protester shouted: “They spend their whole lives inside factory farms for a few minutes of your taste pleasure.”
The protest was also live-streamed on the Facebook page of the group where it has been shared and liked by hundreds of people.
The Facebook video shows diners eating their meal while protesters carried out their mission.
Many internet users supported the group, with one person commenting: “Brave compassionate young people. Thank you for doing what you are doing.”
Another wrote: “How can they keep shovelling those animal parts into their mouths without feeling it stick in their throats?”
Someone else wrote: “Thank you for speaking for the voiceless. The restaurant guests were undoubtedly inconvenienced and while their initial reaction may have been denial, I bet they had gone home thinking about it, talking about it, and deep down, some of them maybe start seeing the point.”
One restaurant worker can be seen telling the protesters that they are ‘ruining everyone’s dinner’ and tried to make them leave.
They left after the restaurant manager called the police but by the time cops arrived, the demonstrators had left.
One Facebook user wrote: “There is a time and place for voicing your opinion and this is not one of them. You made reservations to dine and falsified bookings which cost this business money. You should be charged, fined and made to reimburse this business.”
Another wrote: “Even a lettuce screams when you rip it from the ground.”
