A group of militant vegans has taken their protest against animal cruelty to the streets as they stormed several restaurants and confronted shocked customers with videos of animal cruelty.
The gang responsible for ruining the restaurant-goers’ Saturday evening was previously involved in a McDonald’s incident branded as “sick” by the members of the public.
Approximately 22 followers of the animal rights group called Direct Action Everywhere took their anger to the streets in Leederville, Perth, where they challenged unsuspecting people with disturbing, graphic content.
Previously, the same group marched into a McDonald’s and dropped a dead piglet on their counter. The activists, including leader James Warden, not only stole the piglet from a piggery but also petrified the customers as they took over the restaurant with graphic placards.
Following the incident, James, whose group members covered their mouths with black tape, shared the images on social media.
The man was later charged with two counts of aggravated burglary and stealing and three counts of trespassing. While he pleaded guilty to the latter, he denied having anything to do with stealing the pig.
During the latest incident, the protesters were heard preaching restaurant customers while “bullying” them with graphic materials.
“Male calves are slaughtered as young as six weeks old simply because they don’t produce milk,” one female was heard saying.
“Chicks are blended alive in a macerator or gassed to death simply because they don’t produce eggs. Animals don’t want better lives they want freedom. We have a choice the animals don’t.”
Following the incident, Mark McGowan, Premier of Western Australia, spoke out and accused the protests of being counter-productive.
“It’s just stupid. I’d encourage them, I’d tell them don’t do it, all you do is drive people away from your cause in the first place,” he said. “If they want to make a stand go and run for public office.”
