In a recent interview, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has said a crossover between Venom and Spider-Man could be in the pipeline!
Venom follows the story of Eddie Brock, a journalist who gained superpowers after getting bound to a parasitic alien symbiote.
It was in 1984 when the character of Venom was first introduced in an issue of The Amazing Spider-Man comic.
The last time fans saw the two together sharing the same screen was in 2007 where the role was played by Topher Grace. There was also a short Venom appearance in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in 2014.
The release of the Venom movie last year eliminated any reason for him to be the nemesis of Spider-Man. But now it seems Marvel Studios wants to bring the two characters together.
“I think probably it’s up to Sony,” Feige said when CinemaBlend asked about a potential crossover.
“Sony has both those characters and has Venom in their world. I don’t know what their plans are for another Venom or if they’re doing that,” he added.
“But it seems likely at some point.”
Many fans are excited about the idea. One tweeted: “Yes please! Battle of the Toms, which is better, Hardy or Holland?”
Another wrote: “MY GOD WE DESERVE IT YES!”
A third said: “Sony, please rent Venom to MCU.”
But not everyone thinks it is a great idea. One skeptical social media user commented: “Do not ruin good movies with characters from bad movies.”
Another said: “Please god no.”
A third wrote: “Keep your terrible version of Venom away or it will be Spider-Man 3 all over again.”
