Senior Veteran Fired From His Job After Criticizing School Guard For Leaving His Post


A senior veteran was fired from his position as a crossing guard and had his guns taken away after criticizing a school guard for leaving his post while on duty.

84-year-old Stephen Nichols fought during the Korean war and served as an officer for several decades before taking to the streets to work as a crossing guard and protect the children.

Despite his contributions to the nation, the elderly vet was fired from his most recent job and had his guns seized by authorities after he confronted a school resource officer who left his post while on duty.

As the vet from Tisbury, Massachusetts, explained according to MV Times, he was eating with a colleague at a local restaurant when he saw the SRO walk in to get coffee.point 245 |

Immediately, the 84-year-old talked to his friend about it and said that the officer was endangering children at the school because someone could walk in and “shoot up the school” during his absence.point 171 | 1

After the incident, the waitress who overheard the vet talking reported him to the police, leading the officers to relieve Nichols of his position as a crossing guard and seizing all of his guns despite the fact he held a firearm license for over six decades.

The owner of the restaurant where the incident took place, Marc Hanover, spoke out and said the consequences were “absolutely outrageous” because Stephen never made any threats. He also said that the waitress “overreacted.”

After the vet was fired for making a comment about the SRO, he expressed his love for children and said he would never harm a kid.

“I would never, ever, ever, harm a child … I just need something to do to get out of the house and I love the kids,” he said.
