A shocking video has surfaced showing a skateboarder vandalizing a George Floyd memorial.
Local media outlets claim the incident took place at Union Square a few days back, making it another incident of memorial defacing in relation to the slain Black citizen.
Detailed footage features a skateboarder throwing black-colored paint upon the statue, which officials confirm is the vandal. The clip is now being used to identify the suspect which police officers say has been their prime target as far investigations are concerned.
While the suspect tries real hard to duck down, he can be seen ducking down near a statue of the late Representative John Lewis at about 10:15 am on a Sunday.
He then tries to mess with something in his backpack, right before he sends his skateboard flying towards the George Floyd installation.
The man can then be seen hurling black-toned paint upon the statue’s base and face as well as the bust region. Soon, he makes a calm run for it, heading towards the western side of the park.
Next, two individuals which comprise an adult and a child stand nearby in close proximity which the video clearly shows, and they watch in horror as the suspect hurls the large bucket of paint. This thwart’s the adult’s attempt to take a click of the incident, whereby the statue is covered with black paint.
Now, the New York Police Department is investigating the event as they are on the hunt for a man whose physical details they’ve outlined.
He comprises a light-toned complexion with a medium build.
He was reportedly last seen donning a black-toned hat, green shirt, and black shorts. Officials also went ahead and outlined his white sneakers and green colored backpack too. What are your thoughts on the violent defacing of George Floyd’s memorial?
