Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris, had shared dinner with majority of the Senate of the United States.
Not all of them were there, but she shared these moments just after coming back from her Latin America tour. She had hosted a dinner with them at her Naval Observatory home which is finally done with its construction.
The women had eaten a “summer garden tower,” roasted Mahi-mahi, California wines, warm strawberry rhubarb croustades and vanilla ice cream. The full menu had been tweeted out by Nebraska Republican, Senator Deb Fischer.
Harris is known for her love of cooking and even made the women cheese puffs for them to enjoy. After a long week, the press has been portraying her in a bad light and handling questions that are pertained to her lack of attendance at the United States Mexico border.
Earlier this year, President Joe Biden had given the responsibility to Vice President Harris as the border czar, having to deal with underlying conditions of the migration surge this year.
Biden had also given her the responsibility of protecting voter rights with legislation that is sitting in the U.S. Senate.
Democratic Senator Krysten Sinema was not able to attend this dinner because she had broken her foot while running a marathon last Sunday. Two Republicans had skipped the dinner overall. They have yet to respond to requests to comment on the situation.
Tennessee Republican Senator Marsha Blackburn describes the dinner as a “lovely event” and an “evening of relationship building” which did not include a “policy discussion at all”.
She stated that if she did bring up policies, she would have loved to have said, “you need to get to the border. You need to talk to the Border Patrol.”
Last week, Harris had gone on her first international trip as vice president, and had been hammered down as to why she had not made a visit to the border yet. Other Republicans have attacked Harris for not visiting the states that bordered the location of the migrant surge. Recently, former president Donald Trump had stated that he would make the trip to Texas, being first in visiting instead of the supposed border czar.
Both Governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, and Donald Trump will visit the region on June 30th.
