A waitress at Denny’s in Memphis, Tennessee, United States, has claimed she has still not received her $4,000 tip that she got last month.
Shikira Edwards got a $4,000 tip in February but the owner of the restaurant has refused to pay up as they are still figuring out if the tip was legit.
Shikira’s manager informed her about the $4,000 tip that she got last month but she still has not received the tip and she would get paid when she would track down the customer.
Shikira told Fox 13: “You’re going to tell me that it’s my fault that I didn’t get the information on a customer when they left and tipped me. I don’t know who tipped me.”
Shikira has been working at the restaurant for the last three years but now she is planning to sue the owner of the restaurant as they have refused to pay up her tip.
The restaurant’s spokesperson said in a statement: “Denny’s is working diligently with our Banking/Credit Card Department to locate the guest and verify the large tip amount.”
The owner of the restaurant accused Shikira of spreading misinformation and told they were told to cancel the transaction from that bill as they couldn’t verify who left the tip and if it was legit.
Last month, a restaurant Murdock’s Southern Bistro in Cocoa Village was about to close down after serving for more than 18 years due to a lease dispute.
When the story went viral online, a customer left the staff a $550 tip on a $30 check.
30 people could be out of work if the restaurant had closed.
The owner of the restaurant has now decided to purchase another property in Cocoa Village to move the restaurant to another location.
