On August 2 at around 4:20 PM, Birmingham police responded to reports of a toddler wandering alone on a street and who was wearing blood-splattered clothes.
Little did they know that it would lead them to a murder investigation.
According to Sgt. Johnny Williams of the Birmingham Police Department, although the child was uninjured, the toddler led police to a house on 9th Court Circle South that turned out to contain two dead bodies, an adult male and an adult female.
The bodies were later identified as that of Mary Holt, 67, and Joe Holt, 68. It’s unclear what the child’s relationship with the deceased is but their deaths have been classified as homicides.
The case is still under investigation but no new leads have surfaced as of this time.
