Amid the many problems we encounter in life, we often forget the little blessings around us.
It’s a fact that we often don’t know what we have until we lose it. On the flip side, finding out what we’ve been missing can be a true shock but also a great delight.
For those who are color blind, life can pretty much be lived as normal (although those with red-green color blindness will need to take extra care around traffic signals). However, there are some sights that a color blind person doesn’t normally get to enjoy, such as the majesty of a beautiful sunset.
One boy decided to change all that for his colorblind girlfriend by buying special lenses for her on her birthday and bringing her out to enjoy a sunset. The results were, as expected, spectacular.
A video of the event has come out and in it, Colton Donnell can be seen giving his unnamed girlfriend the special glasses for her 17th birthday. At first, she thinks they’re nothing more than a pair of fancy sunglasses.
Colton explains: “I have known that she is colorblind since I met her during our sophomore year of high school. When I knew she was going to turn 17 in a few months, I began saving so that I could buy the glasses.”
Needless to say, the moment the girl puts on the glasses, she’s shocked by what she sees and realizes what she had been missing until that moment. “Holy sh*t” she shouts as she hugs her boyfriend.
The girl is unable to hold back her tears as she tells Colton that she “can see the sunset” and that she loves him so much.
Colton continues: “I ordered them and as soon as I was in possession of them, I took her to a spot that I knew we could see the sunset and waited for the perfect time. Then, I gave her the glasses and waited for her to figure out what exactly what they were.”
It was a truly touching gesture from Colton and the girl is indeed lucky to have a considerate and thoughtful boyfriend.
Seeing the girl’s reaction, you should be thankful if you don’t suffer from color blindness. Try to take some time out during the day to admire the flowers or even gaze at a beautiful sunset. Life is so short and it’ll pass us by before we know it, so let’s make every moment count with every little blessing that we have.
