Wedding guests who spent $2,500 to attend the supposedly luxurious destination event were left gob-smacked after being served “prison food” on paper plates.
As the wedding photographer who chose to remain anonymous revealed, guests have paid “thousands” of dollars to be able to attend a destination wedding in Missouri, United States, only to be greeted with measly-looking baked beans and potato salad.
“The venue was gorgeous but that’s it. That’s where the effort stopped,” the photographer claimed in her Facebook post.
As she went on to say, several guests have expressed their disappointment over the food which was served on paper plates.
“There were no flowers, no food throughout the day and they put our hotel 37 minutes away after driving for eight hours. It was an outside wedding in November with ice on the ground. I was over it,” she added.
Soon enough, the photographer’s post went viral with people accusing the couple who got married of being cheap.
“If you make people pay $2k to attend your wedding in some godforsaken place at least make sure you feed them well or they’re gonna be pissed lol,” someone wrote.
“Honestly, I would be very disappointed not only by the choice of food but also by the presentation. It looks like no effort was put into the wedding at all – which is fine as long as you don’t make people pay thousands to attend it,” another one suggested.
One person, however, defended the couple and said: “It’s their decision and they can do whatever they want. They’re not getting married for the guests… so they could just go with the flow and suck it up instead of complaining.”
