Rescuing such a gigantic animal-like whale can be risky and unpredictable. But as the whales are considered very intelligent animals, and the same was the case in this rescue, when Dan found this whale to be very cooperative. It was like that whale knew that the team is here to help her to get out of this situation.
Although the whale was also exhausted by the effort she did to free herself of the fishing nets, but she definitely needed human help to get out these nets. A dinghy was also sent to assist divers at the spot where the whale was struggling to get free. After the whale was free, a haul of lobster pots and ropes were hauled back to the harbourside.
According to the spokesperson of RNLI, the divers were thinking that it would be easy for them to free the whale. However, it took an hour as the line was caught around the whale’s tail. Moreover, it was full of risk for divers to go close to her tail. To tackle the situation more comfortably, a larger lifeboat designed for poor weather conditions was called upon.
The divers were able to free the whale by lifting her tail out of the water and were able to cut the line around its tail. Fortunately, in this risky rescue, none of the divers faced any injuries and whale also appeared to be harmless
