WHO Does Not Aapprove Ibuprofen For Worsening Covid-19 Symptoms


Recently a cautionary tweet by the Health Minister of France caused a stir, which translated to caution that Ibuprofen can worsen the infection.

He added that those with fever should take paracetamol instead, which is sold as Tylenol in the U.S.A.

His warning articulated concern that was gaining momentum. Just three days before, researchers had suggested in a prestigious medical journal that ibuprofen may exacerbate Covid-19. This week, parents of a girl having symptoms of coronavirus that ibuprofen has harmed their daughter.

On Tuesday, it was reported that WHO was recommended that those suffering coronavirus symptoms should avoid taking ibuprofen. However, it is incorrect. The World Health Organization has not officially warned people who are against taking the drug.

The WHO is gathering more evidence on the issue before it will make a formal recommendation. Ibuprofen is the generic name for the drug sold as Advil.

According to the experts, symptoms related to coronavirus and their association with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen and similar drugs were unfounded.

According to a professor of medicine working at Harvard Medical School, making a recommendation to avoid this drug category, which is massively beneficial, is not wise at this point.

Coronavirus cases have crossed more than 277,000 and the disease has taken the lives of more than 11,400 people as of Saturday.

Until now, this disease has no cure or vaccine and has left scientists still figuring out how the virus behaves and spreads.

According to a theory, coronavirus enters cells by combining an enzyme known as ACE2, and ACE2 may be increased by particular drugs, such as ibuprofen.

This is why those researchers proposed that the use of the drug can increase the risk of getting severe Covid-19. However, no new data has been provided to support this theory.
