A woman just realized that her husband is actually the adorable boy she met on a holiday in Turkey when she was only six!
Heidi Parker, now 29, didn’t know what she had actually met Ed Savitt in 1997 at a holiday resort kids’ club in Turkey. They were only 6 at that time and became friends right away, coyly holding hands and playing on the beach.
Years after that, they became friends again at the University of Newcastle.
Ed was staying at a student apartment when he needed help with the washing machine. He then found Heidi’s name and realized she had lived there before him, so he decided to track her down on Facebook.
“He didn’t know how to use the washing machine in the student flat,” Heidi shared. “And he found a piece of post with my name on, realised I had lived there the year before and decided I could help.
“He Facebooked me asking how the washing machine worked, and I let him know… basically because he was hot.”
Ed is originally from London and Heidi is from Sheffield. They both travelled to North East where they were magically reunited. They chose the same apartment but just different years – what are the odds?
“We just spotted each other,” Heidi said. “I thought he was gorgeous, I thought he was actually amazing. All I can remember thinking is, ‘Wow, he is hot’.
“We got chatting and hit it off pretty much instantly. After university I moved to London and a few years later we moved in together, buying a flat in Wandsworth.”
The two became engaged in 2015 and after a few months later, while eating a meal with their parents, Heidi’s mother suddenly talked about their childhood holidays.
“Then out of nowhere my mum said, ‘When you were on holiday in Turkey and you were little you had a little boyfriend called Ed’.
“She sent me a picture in the post of him and it was my Ed. I couldn’t believe it… we were all stunned.”
Heidi’s mother, Kay Parker, had shared the photo of the children only for fun. But she was also surprised when her daughter said it was actually her fiancé.
“I was so shocked I actually had to lie down,” Heidi expressed. “Ed was amazed too… we couldn’t believe it.”
She added: “I have no memory of meeting Ed as a child, but from the photos we had been spending an awful lot of time together while we were on holiday.
“He told his parents and they dug out images of him on the same holiday.”
The couple turned the photo of them together as children into their wedding invitations. So sweet!
“It was brilliant. We love telling people how me met, twice,” she said. “And recently we have been back to Bodrum to see where we met. It was really exciting to go back to where the miracle began.”
