Prince William and Kate Middleton’s eldest son Prince George turns 8 on July 22.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge usually release a portrait of their children to mark their birthday but they are considering not sharing an official birthday photo of their son this year, a royal expert claims.
Royal biographer Angela Levin has suggested that William and Kate might break their tradition because of previous attacks from online trolls who mocked the young prince’s appearance.
Levin told True Royalty TV’s Royal Beat: “There are rumours that we might not see the photograph (of Prince George) when he’s eight, because they’ve been so upset by the rudeness of people mocking a little boy aged seven, and I hope they can overcome that.”
Royal correspondent Roya Nikkah also praised the couple for bringing George along to watch the European Championships.
She said that George’s appearance was ‘a very clever way’ of introducing him to public duties at a very young age.
“This is an official duty for Prince George at the age of seven,” Roya said. “It’s lovely and happy and there’s a lot of emotion.
“Getting him used to big crowds and knowing that he is being watched by millions of people – it’s quite a clever way of doing it.”
Roya also said that the Queen is enjoying going back to her duties after the Duke of Edinburgh’s death in April.
“Anyone who knows the Queen or works with the Queen knows that she would take a little bit of time, but not a huge amount, to mourn her husband,” she said.
“What we really saw from June onwards was her carrying out a lot of activities. She was at the G7. She is getting back to business with a real burst, and she looks happy again,” Roya added.
