CD Projekt Red, the Polish game studio, which offered the popular series Witcher and the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 has revealed that it has donated $1 billion to help in fighting the coronavirus outbreak.
Marcin Iwinski, the co-founder and joint-CEO wrote a note on Linkedin that reads that partnering with a Polish NGO, Fundacja Wielka Orkiestra Świątecznej Pomocy, which has 20 years of medical equipment fundraising experience, the company has donated 4 million PLN to combat the coronavirus outbreak in Poland.
While the 2 million PLN was donated by the company, the other 2 million PLN was donated by its major shareholders.
The post further read that the entire team thanks to the brave individuals who are working on the frontline and trying to save lives and hope that the fund provided by them will be helpful in taking the right measures to get rid of the deadly virus.
Four million PLN would transfer to approximately one million US dollars, 785,000 pounds sterling, and 8,800,800 euros.
The post also added that if people want to know more about the Fundacja Wielka Orkiestra Świątecznej Pomocy – or the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity, in English can visit the official website.
As of now, the company is working at the end stages of Cyberpunk 2077, which will be releasing on September 17th; 2020 for Xbox One and PC, PlayStation 4.
Additional Xbox One players will be able to upgrade to a Series X edition without having to pay an additional fees.
Just like most of us, the studio is also working from home, and we also had a chat with Marthe Jonkers, the senior concept artist at 2019 Gamescom, where they discussed what new people can expect from the new series.
Once Cyberpunk 2077 is done, the new Witcher game will be entering its development phase.
