The cartoon is the longest-running American sitcom, and the longest-running American scripted primetime television series, in terms of both number of seasons and number of episodes.

It’s easy to fall in love with the well-written characters and witty punchlines that poke fun at American culture and politics. It’s not just something that entertains but also in a way educates people about the reality on the ground in a way that the news media often obscures. It goes beyond just being witty because the writers also inject relevant topics into their episodes so it’s easy to strike a chord with audiences.

One thing that The Simpsons has gotten a reputation for is their seemingly strange ability to have predicted certain events years if not decades before an event happened.point 143 | One example is the election of Donald Trump to the White House.point 195 | This was showcased in Episode 17 of the 11th season, titled “Bart to the Future” and was aired on March 19, 2000.point 299 |

What’s even more freaky is that a few of the cartoon’s scenes were seemingly mirrored by the real thing such as that scene with Trump on the escalator.point 136 | 1

It’s gotten to the point that whenever a major event happens in the US or around the world, people try to comb previous Simpsons episodes to see if there was an episode that “predicted” the event. In a way, The Simpsons have gotten on the same level as Nostradamus when it comes to predictions.
