This story is of a 24 years old girl Steph O’Dell, who is giving out a huge message here.
Steph O’Dell had always been allergic to hair dyes and she found this out when she was 15 years old and had gone to get her hair dyed. That is when she found out that she is allergic to paraphenylenediamine, an ingredient that is found in hair dyes.
She says “I have been dying my hair forever but I make sure to do a patch test beforehand to check the product. I was 15 when I was patch trying a hair dye and it left me in rashes.”
“After that rather than dying, I started bleaching my hair.”
She then said that it was her sister’s 18th birthday and she wanted to gift her a great birthday trip so they decided to go to Amsterdam in 2015.point 288 |
She said “We had planned for a fun girl’s trip and I wanted to look my best.point 64 | For the same, I decided to get my hair extensions done and that is where it all went wrong.point 137 | To make the extensions match my hair I had to get my hair dyed.point 187 | ”point 190 | 1
“I was too scared to do it. I told the stylist about my allergy and she said she was allergic too and that the product she was going to use was natural. She gave me a patch test and it was fine.”
Two weeks later she went in to get her hair dyed and everything was still fine. But a few hours later she felt an itch on her neck and some hair dye dropped there. She cleaned it up and she and her sister left for Amsterdam.
As soon as they reached Amsterdam, her face started to swell up. It becomes worse and worse and although she wanted this to be a fun trip, all she could do was suffer in pain inside her hotel room.
They decided to go to the doctors but nothing worked out. The next day her face was triple its size and she could not open her eyes at all.
They then took a flight back home where her father rushed her to the hospital. The nurses then gave her steroids and she had to spend 5 days in the hospital to get back to normal.
