A grieving woman was told to divorce her “cruel” husband after the man joked about her brother’s death.
As the lady in question revealed in her Reddit post, she was left furious after her husband attempted to make a joke by asking her “Guess who died?” following her brother’s fatal accident.
Disgusted by her husband’s twisted comment, the woman went on to ban her own husband from her 21-year-old brother’s funeral only for the man to criticize her for punishing him over what he believes was just an innocent joke.
After distancing herself from her husband for several weeks, the woman spoke out on Reddit in an attempt to get advice on what to do next.
“He told me he received the news of a family member’s death from my sister… then he said ‘guess who!’” the woman recalled in her post.
“I angrily told him to stop it and tell me but he still thought it’s fine to ask me to guess. That’s when I lost it on him because my nerves were done. I yelled at him then hung up.”
It allegedly wasn’t until the woman called her sister that she discovered her brother had passed away in an accident.
“I drove to my hometown six hours away by myself and my husband was mad after he found out I didn’t wait for him to take him with me,” she added.
“He wanted to come but I said I’d have kicked out if he showed up which got him p***ed yelling that I had no right to rob him if saying goodbye to his favorite brother-in-law.
“He said my anger was misplaced and I was taking it out on him for no reason other than being the ‘bearer of the bad news’ and that nobody wants to be that person but he tried to be as nice as he could about it.”
After opening up about the matter on Reddit, the woman quickly received loads of support from people telling her to ditch her husband over his cruel joke.
“So you have to process in your mind the potential deaths of all your family members until you guess the right one?” someone wrote.
“That’s horrific! Anything you had to do to protect yourself after that was understandable.”
“Your husband is possibly the cruelest person I’ve read about on here,” another suggested.
The third wrote: “I don’t just think OP is justified in excluding him from the funeral, I think she’d be justified in excluding him from the rest of her life, if she so chose. He’s amazingly calloused toward her if he could do that to her.”
