While the woman was in her own house at the time of the incident, she is now facing 10 years in the sex offenders register after a judge refused to side with her.

As Buchanan claimed, she and Jared, her husband, decided to remove their tops after they got dirty from installing insulation.

After seeing her kids with an “embarrassed” look on their faces, the 27-year-old explained to them that a woman being topless is the same as a man without a shirt.

“[Buchanan] explained she considers herself a feminist and wanted to make a point that everybody should be fine with walking around their house or elsewhere with skin showing,” the woman’s attorney said.

However, the police have argued that the woman was drunk at the time of the incident, whereas she allegedly stripped in front of her kids just to prove her point and refused to dress before Jared exposed his private parts.

The authorities were called to the scene after the kids’ biological mother informed them about the incident.

Following her arrest, Buchanan insisted she didn’t do anything wrong whereas her sole intent was allegedly to teach her stepchildren about feminism and acceptance.

“I was devastated. Because the moment I took to teach the kids, it was kind of smashed. Like you can’t teach kids this. In fact, you’re going to be charged for even bringing this up,” the woman said in an interview with Salt Lake Tribune.

“It’s not like at the forefront of my brain. I’m not going to go sign up for the ‘Free the Nipple’ cause. I just thought, ‘This is cool, this is really awesome and natural.’ It’s not a thing to me. It’s never been a thing.”
