A climber has been tagged as an ‘idiot’ post trying to climb the UK’s tallest mountain wearing flip-flops on her feet.
No climbing shoes, no socks – this lady just wore a string of plastic and a thin sole to keep her stable. It may not sound good, but even Crocs would be a better option.
Janey Ballantyne, a Facebook user who climbed the 1,345 meter high Ben Nevis the previous week, posted a picture on Facebook of a lady’s impractical climbing gear with a caption that said, “Let’s walk Ben Navis in flip flops.”
Needless to say, her attempt was not successful.
Not only is the unnamed lady wearing what is believed to be beach footwear, but is also showing off her cropped leggings.
While other climbers stand beside her with flasks, waterproof jackets, and walking poles, the woman flaunts her ankle bracelet and a toe ring.
There is a place and a time to look pretty at and climbing a mountain is definitely not one of them.
Mercifully, she came down before a storm hit that would have made it more difficult for her to climb.
Someone commented that the lady was a mountain rescue operation that was waiting to happen, while another wrote that that was a disgrace. The person added that she was not only endangering her own life but also of those of the mountain rescue who would come out to rescue her when she would go over her ankle.
Mountaineering Scotland replied to the photographs by stressing the prominence of safety while climbing the peak.
The woman was lucky to wear loungewear and be safe, but you should always be careful when climbing any peak.
