A woman became an instant billionaire after accidentally receiving nearly $1 billion in her bank account.
Julia Yonkowski from Tampa, Florida, was stunned after withdrawing $20 from her bank account only to find out that she had $999,985,855.94 more at her disposal.
After realizing that she had become a billionaire following an accidental bank transfer, Julia immediately reached out to her bank in an attempt to get rid of the mysterious money.
As of this writing, however, the matter reportedly still hasn’t been resolved and her bank has yet to respond to her concerns.
“Oh my God, I was horrified. I know most people would think they won the lottery but I was horrified,” the lady said in an interview with WFLA.
“When I put in for the $20, the machine came back and said we’ll give you the $20 but that’ll cause an overdraft and you will be charged and I said, ‘Oh just forget it.’”
After deciding to review her balance, however, Julia was in for the surprise of her lifetime.
“I know I’ve read stories about people that took the money or took out money, and then they had to repay it and I wouldn’t do that anyway because it’s not my money,” she added.
“It kind of scares me because you know with cyber threats. You know I don’t know what to think.”
As the instant billionaire, who became the 615th richest person in the USA, added, she can’t wait to get rid of the $1 billion. Despite the size of the error, however, she couldn’t get anyone at Chase Bank to respond to her concerns over the weekend.
“I just can’t get through. I get tied up with their automated system and I can’t get a person,” Julia said.
As of this writing, it is unclear if the money was already returned to the sender and who the sender was.
