A woman from South Africa has given birth to ten babies at once, in what is being described as a new Guinness World Record.
37-year-old Gosiame Sithole has reportedly given birth to her 10 children on Monday, with the news being confirmed by her husband shortly afterward. The decuplets include 7 boys and 3 girls, which were each delivered by a c-section, confirmed local media outlets in the country.
The news makes it the world’s largest live birth ever, as authorities are waiting for final confirmation by doctors.
37-year-old Gosiame Thamara Sithole is already a mother to a beautiful set of twins, as reported by her husband. However, it is still shocking that the country’s government is yet to find any form of record for her massive delivery of decuplets.
For this reason, a representative for the Goverment has recently requested the public while tagging IOL via a tweet for more access to information. The spokesperson revealed, “We still need to verify this piece of news and then provide the required assistance where necessary.”
In the same way, the Mayor of the district where the delivery reportedly took place is also waiting for more information before confirming the news.
Meanwhile, Gosiame’s husband who is currently unemployed revealed to journalists how his wife had given birth to 10 children during the late hours of Monday. He also expressed his great excitement and happiness regarding the news and said it was a very emotional time for him.
This news comes exactly a month after reports from Mali granted Halima Cisse the record for the most babies delivered during a live birth, which was 9 in Morocco. That was a case that is thought to have occurred via fertility treatment.
“I am very happy, I am emotional, and I cannot talk too much,” these were the final words of the father.
