In the UK, a customer was horrified to discover nuts and bolts baked into her Domino’s pizza toppings.
According to Metro, Gemma Barton was halfway through eating the pizza slices when she found the nuts and bolts on her pizza.
Barton then immediately contacted the Domino’s branch in Thornton Cleveleys, Lancashire, where the store managers said their apologies and refunded the pizza, Metro UK reported.
After Barton’s horrific experience, she posted a picture of the ‘serious choking hazard’ on social media, urging people to check their pizzas first before eating.
“PLEASE PLEASE double check your pizzas before eating I’d hate if I or anyone ingested these!” Barton wrote in the caption. “Be careful when ordering from Domino’s Pizza at the Thornton-Cleveleys branch on Fleetwood Rd North.”
“Serious choking hazard and health and safety issue here sort yourselves Domino’s Pizza,” Barton continued. “Please please share, I’d hate if this was a more serious matter for someone else.”
After the incident, Domino’s issued a statement apologizing for the unfortunate ordeal.
A spokesperson also confirmed that it had spoken to the branch to prevent this from happening again.
“At Domino’s, we take customer satisfaction and safety extremely seriously – contamination of this nature is extremely rare,” the spokesperson has said. “As soon as we received Ms Barton’s complaint in July we apologized for the distress caused and thoroughly investigated at a store level.”
“We swiftly offered Ms Barton a full refund which she accepted at the time,” the spokesperson added. “We have reminded our store team of the correct process to avoid any future issues of this nature.”
