A woman was left in shock after waking up and looking decades older following a botched beauty treatment.
37-year-old Svetlana is an architect from Russia who claims she had “lost her face” after undergoing a beauty treatment to counter her aging process.
While the woman expected to look younger after getting injections to remove her old gel implants, the cosmetic procedure had adverse effects on her looks and made her look decades older after her skin became saggy.
“My face shrank like in mummification. My skin sagged like a rag, the face completely departed from the skull. The connection of the skin to the skull, the so-called ligaments of the face, disappeared,” Svetlana, who underwent the procedure after her ex-boyfriend told her she looked old, says.
“It’s very scary. As if you were killed, you decompose – and see it every day in the mirror. It’s like your face is melting and you can’t stop it. Doctors don’t know how to treat it.
“If I had even had the slightest hint that this could happen, I would never have gone to a beautician at all.”
As the 37-year-old added, she spoke out about her incident to warn other women about the potential dangers of such procedures.
Since the incident, a criminal case has also been launched to get to the bottom of Svetlana’s allegations and find out whether the practitioner who operated on her, Dr Irina Freimanis, committed any wrongdoing.
Recalling the hours after getting injections aimed to break down excess gel stuck under her skin, Svetlana revealed how her face began to change rapidly.
“In the evening I went to the mirror and saw that my face had began to change. The skin under my eyes dried up and literally fell through,” she added.
“In the morning, the volume of dried tissue under the eyes increased even more. Rapid changes were taking place, every hour my face was altering.
“Within three days, not only the under-eye, but also the upper eyelid, was completely dry. My eyebrows dropped down, the outer corners of the eyes dropped. I couldn’t understand what was going on.”
Following the irreversible procedure, Svetlana was allegedly offered free corrective treatment by her cosmetician who applied additional injections and inserted fillers but failed to fix the issue of saggy skin.
“After all these injections, I saw another person in the mirror every day. It was clear that some kind of chemical process was taking place and the face was changing. This was really scary,” Svetlana says.
“I stopped communicating with people, I shut myself away. Everyone asked what happened to me, why I didn’t look like myself, what was wrong with my eyes. I continued to swell a lot, and stopped leaving the house so as not to scare anyone.”
