A woman has gone viral after bragging about punishing her toddler for destroying her makeup set in her YouTube video.
23-year-old Michelle Grace who works as a beauty influencer has been facing a backlash after proudly announcing that she “beat the crap” out of her child until her hand began to ache.
In her YouTube video, the vlogger revealed how her 2-year-old daughter destroyed her makeup set and insisted that she always finds her stuff and messes with them “no matter how many times I tell her not to mess with my makeup, she never f***ing listens.”
In the background of Grace’s video titled ‘My Toddler Ruined My JSC Alien Palette|Now I’m sad…,’ the woman’s daughter can be heard crying despite the vlogger insisting that it was just a “pop” and that it “barely hurts.”
“When you work your butt off for something, and you save up to buy something, it’s literally like a child. You treat it like a child,” Grace said in her video which later got deleted.
“I know a lot of parents might not agree with me. But I don’t normally — I don’t normally spank my child, unless I really have to, and usually, it’s just a pop. And it barely hurts. She cries for like, five seconds.”
After the woman’s video went viral, plenty of parents slammed the vlogger for spanking her child and defending her actions online.
“Don’t hit/pop/spank your kid. There is never a reason to strike a child. Teaching them to fear you isn’t parenting. You’re normalizing violence. Stop. Learn and do better,” someone wrote.
“That’s child abuse and your child deserves better. Try teaching her how to value your stuff without laying a hand on her next time,” another one suggested.
After a wave of critics directed at the young mom, Grace responded on Twitter by saying:
“What I did should have never been done. I acted out of emotions and had a lapse in judgement. That being said, I’m truly sorry if it all came off the wrong way. It was a poor choice of words and I admit that.
“I should not have made it seem like materialistic things were more important than her because trust me, they’re not. I realize now where I went wrong. I love her more than everything and everyone. I always have.”
