Victoria, from Hoghton, Lancashire, is now doing adrenaline-fuelled challenges such as wing-walking and sky-diving to ease her pain.
Victoria suffers chronic pain 24 hours a day that feels like she is being stabbed with a knife.
Victoria told SWNS: “I just woke up in bed one morning and my whole back was sore. I was driving quite a long way at that time to my workplace so thought it was just a niggle in the back.”
“It never went away and then, unfortunately, I kept going to see doctors and consultants and they did blood tests for rheumatoid arthritis, arthritis itself, and other conditions.”
But, Victoria has found a way to ease her pain as she now takes part in the adrenaline-fuelled challenges.
She said: “Any activity which gives me an adrenaline rush or experience of doing something at speed makes me happy as all other emotions go into oblivion.”
“I can’t put my body through any more pain so I say to myself I might as well do it. I know my parents and husband worry. But to me, it’s a temporary fix.”
“I’m always thinking about what I can do next. I’m that distracted by something else, it’s restarting my brain.”
She suffered severe pain that she had to take 30 painkillers per day. She had to retire early from her role at water service United Utilities because of the chronic pain she experiences 24 hours a day.
Unfortunately, there is no cure for it.
But, she is trying to ease her pain as she does adrenaline-fuelled challenges.
She said: “The only time when I’m pain-free is when I have a bit of an adrenaline rush. When something distracts me and I can focus on something else.”
She plans to go heliskiing, try rally driving, drive an Aston Martin down the Autobarn in Germany, and swim with sharks.
